Could you post the weight difference between the OEM block and head and the billet versions? I've not been able to find a direct comparison.

Add lightness! Colin Chapman is smiling.

We are looking at about 68lbs lighter plus alot stronger. Material is made of Alumec 29.
Elmerracing.com is throwing in a custom billet valve cover. Hopefully this block and head will live up to the hype. I don't want a 12k paper weight.. lol

hopefully I will be able to build the meanest track monster

the block is around 68lbs lighter. The material used is alumec 79. Don't know about the billet head.
Dsportmag.com will be doing the build. Hopefully you can read this article in the magazine.
I bought this setup in hopes that this vehicle will become a D garage project car.
thanks, Victor Nishimoto

LOL, come one. A 4b11 block only weighs around 75-80lbs in the first place. Good luck with that.

Hell, a 4g63 iron block is 95lbs. You wouldn't even save 68lbs making a billet 4g63.

Awesome! I love seeing new stuff, looks great.

one question though- for the people talking about weight savings- how will there be any weight saved when our oem block and head are already aluminium?

xperimental... just wanted to use the best option out there. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by top mechanics. If you wait a little bit longer, I promise you a killer evo.
thank you

Hello, what kind of car do you have? I know that I need to strengthen my drivetrain like replacing the center diff pin.
what would you recommend first?
thank you,
Victor

To me if you're to invest that much into the engine it should be on rotating assembly. You'd see massive weight savings by engineering a titanium crank and rods and the performance gains would be noticeable compared to a billet block. Enjoy the build though, who am I to say where you spend it!

Edit: the only way you'd see measureable difference would be to have the block be machined from magnesium. That'd legitimately halve the weight. However it seems you've climbed to the highest point in the tree to grab the smallest apple. You'd be much better off spending the money on any rotating mass in the car. You'd see a bigger weight change from an inconel exhaust manifold than this block. Spending that money else where could have saved you a conservative 90 pounds to include rotating mass.

It’s not just about max power. Besides just being cool, a well designed billet block has tons of advantages. Have you seen how much the evo x cylinder dimensions change with and without a torque plate; or even just changing head stud torque? Billet block should have less cylinder and bearing clearance deformation under high load. Which means less bearing and cylinder wear and more longevity at a given power.
