1st time getting evo tune

Hello,

im planning on getting my evo x sitting at about 10,000 miles tune with the following bolt on (grimmspeed ebcs, works drop in filter, ultimate racing upper intercooler pipe, ultimate racing Cat back exhaust & HFC). How does the tuning process work? Am I suppose to tell my tuner all the mods done to the car? I've heard story about engine blowing up bc the grimmspeed ebcs wasn't tune properly. Is the tuner (experience with evo) supposed to know what to tune the car to if I tell them my mods? Is a grimmspeed ebcs even needed at my current level of mod + tune? Your answers are much appreciated

thanks.

Technically the tuner might already have a map that will fit to your modification list, therefore giving him more time to do some minor adjustments.
In choosing the tuner reputation and reviews are everything. Choose carefully and do your research.
Ebcs is supposed to first, make it easier to tune (standardized ecu to wastegate interface), as well as smooth out the boost curve.

They'll usually ask you what kind of mods you have, and then they'll start off with a base map. Something very conservative, but a safe start that the tuner can then refine to make the most out of your cars potential.

If you want to spend less on a tune, think about getting an Etune. Beeble has been working with me to get my Evo X tuned and it's been a blast. However, you have to know wiring and have a wideband afr to get a more accurate tune. Grimmspeeds are great at any level of tune, because the stock boost solenoid isn't that great.

Basically, It takes 3-4 hours. Let them know your mods. Tell them to INSTALL YOUR EBCS THERE. Again, do not install this and go there. Have the tuner install it.. it takes 10min. Then, grab your cellphone and video tape some awesome pulls AFTER he does some short ones.

P.S - Go to DB Performance.

All of the mods that you have are going to play a part in the way that the car is tuned so whoever tunes it should want to know what you have on the car. I used the OTS tunes used with the accessport at first, then switched to open source. Cobb recommends certain mods before you use their OTS tunes and the guy I used to do my road tune wanted to know what I had before he tuned it. Mods and tunes go hand in hand so take note of all of the replies that you get and make a well informed decision about who you choose to do the tuning.
