Texas due to high liklihood of salt damage on the one up north. If you get SUPER serious about the one in Houston I could drive it for you and let you know if it's a piece or not. That's like 2 miles from me.
Thanks. I am leaning towards that one for sure. Its the color i want as well. I contacted them to hear about it more. I will keep you posted.
Outside of me looking at it, if you get serious I'd have a third party check it over. If you talk with a salesman ask which company they approve of coming onto the lot to check out a car. Places like this: https://lemonsquad.com/local/houston-tx
I used that to check out an 05 WRX I wanted to buy in another city so there weren't any surprises. I'm not a mechanic and can only give you feedback on driving the car and having owned both a GSR and currently an MR. So I know what to feel for but I can't give you a professional opinion. I could tell you if it's been in a wreck or feels like **** driving or idles funny etc..
That's a decent car dealership I've been there once looking at a used car. They tend to sell more exotic cars, so this could have been a tradein for something looking for a higher end which is a positive. Car has been modified based on Engine bay shot, but not a deal breaker.

Will do. I am thinking pretty seriously on the vehicle. The salesman has been in contact with me pretty regularly with updates and what not. Im working on selling my car and told him once it was sold i would be looking at purchasing his. So if youd be able to test it for me i would greatly appreciate it.
When you're serious let him know I'll be swinging by. I could literally ride a bike there lol. No worries man, Evo homies have to stick together. If you're not a complete wierdo I could also get you from the airport and drop you off at it. I did a one way plane ticket pickup once was a lot of fun. (08 STi at the time)

Also the baller feeling of 'I'm taking a one way ticket to pickup a badass car' is f-ing priceless.

If you do it, check tickets for Hobby airport. DO NOT FLY into IAH it's like 45 minutes north of downtown (far) and much further from that car place. Hobby also has Southwest which is crazy cheap. www.iflyswa.com Also if I do end up helping you that's close to me too lol. IAH = Uber 4 u!
Only other suggestion, if you anticipate hitting snow or ice heading home, plan to have a set of snow tires put on the car when it is down here. There are a few Discount tires I can recommend for that. Worst thing would be to wrap this beauty around a tree on Summer tires which it for sure has if it is down here.
Man do not ship it to you. You need to lay hands on it, drive it, then see if you really want it before you take delivery. At least that's my advice! The road trip home after picking up my STi was so much fun. DO EET!

Yeah i really think ill just fly down there. Getting picked up in a evo to get my evo will be all the more sweeter
Plus its always nice to meet fellow enthusiasts! Ill have to look into that and also ask the guy what kinda tires he has on it. Im figuring there summer tires but will see. Ill end up getting just a whole set of winter ones then if i have to buy tires and wheels. Thanks for all the help man. Hope i get to meet you down there!
Good place to get tires put on and they aren't morons - Discount Tire - 9131 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055 Just have them order some tires and keep them there then swap em' out. Cheap way to do the wheels with the tires would be to just get some steelies. Those are always cheap and for winter so who cares about looks lol.
Good luck let me know how things go.
Yeah will be cool if this works out. I'll bet you 10000000000000000000 it has summers on it, the last time we got snow it was like two pieces of it and the city shut down.

If I had unlimited moneys I'd get both an MR and GSR, as I love them both. Only other thing I like is the 6th gear in the MR is a bit less punishing on the highway. When you are going 65mph in a GSR with the low gearing you are sitting around 3200 RPM's.
My GSR got towed with paper plates still on it, and ruined, so when I was moving to replace I drove the MR having owned the GSR and the speed of shifting was very interesting to me so I gave it a shot. Another deciding factor was the best shop for the SST is out of Houston, Kozmic Motorsports so I knew I had a great resource here.
It really came down to speed, and another level of precision when driving. I'm a die hard stickshift driver, but the MR is just so fast it can't be beaten by a human lol. I still have an 05 WRX if I want to row gears.

You'd be surprised, they are both great cars. The MR is .5 seconds quicker just because of the transmission though. Like I said, I'd love to have both
I don't think there is a wrong choice just different flavors of great ice cream. If you end up snagging this one you'll better understand the MR after going for a ride with me. The dual clutch is silly fast which translates to fun in its own unique way.
