Tune is always a good thing, but not absolutely necessary with just that intake, my X used to have the ETS and it was gnarly spoolup and blow off.
I do believe ETS uses a dry KNN Filter

 

Yah it is dry. The US cars come from the factory with rich tunes though I'm not sure how the FE tune is. This intake will lean it out a bit but still maintain safe levels.

If you're overseas definitely get a tune with this intake as those tunes are much more lean.

 

Thanks guys! I have a reg 15.. with just an exhaust, no test pipe. Still ok with no tune? Sorry for the stupid questions. Just don't want to be back on here in a month saying I blew something up because I didn't ask the question of intake + exhaust - tune = safe

If you're running stock exhaust, a intake alone will give you the sound you're looking for. If you decide to upgrade the exhaust, you won't hear it as much. Just a heads up. You can also take a look at the turbosmart bov.

 

I have an exhaust without test pipe. Love the sound. Thanks for the advice. I thought that people recommended staying with the stock BOV for guys like me running mostly stock. I want sound, but not at the risk of doing anything negative.

 

You're right, some will say save your money and keep the stock valve. Since you're not running a test pipe (for now), you'll definitely be happy if you add a intake.

FP green is a bigger than stock turbo, I was running that with an ETS intake, RRE Stealth exhaust with test pipe, ALOT OF WOOSH WOOSH

 

Agreed all you need is an open-element filter. You will hear your DV and the air being sucked into the turbo.
If you want the Fast & the Furious type of noise, you need an aftermarket BOV.

HKS RS racing intake and GFB BOV stock turbo, stock peak boost PSI everything else is stock engine wise and IC etc.

 

Rob, on that HKS RS intake, do you get any fan feedback? Was wondering if the kansai carbon duct is necessary.
