Straight pipe

I'm planning on straight piping my 2010 evo gsr, will it go into limp mode if not tuned or will it work?

By straight pipe I assume you mean going to do a cat delete, yes, you need a tune.

If you delete the cat, you'll get a CEL unless it's tuned out or you have a spacer setup that works. If you're just going straight pipe from the cat-back, you'll be fine.

wtftuned.com does e-tunes for cheap. If you change your car air flow, be sure to tune it!

I would highly advise not doing straight pipes. I had a test pipe and an ets extreme which is a straight pipe exhaust. The drone was completely unbearable and I had to get ear plugs for the highway. From a standstill the car sounded like a tractor it sounded absolute trash unless wot. I traded for an ets v2 and couldn't be happier.

Loopin's advice is solid.

currently i have a few straight pipe exhausts hanging in my garage collected like women collect shoes. they all sound slightly different - but at the end of the day have the same qualities. Even my Buschur "quiet" exhaust is not what it claims to be.

Loud and obnoxious.

Picked up a T1R Sparrow and couldn't be happier with it. As an added bonus, my hearing is starting to normalize again.

Definitely have the car tuned if you're going test pipe/cat-less.

I did a testpipe and a vibrant 3" resonator before the diff. The catback is a magnaflow with the 3" flange update. Downpipe is AMS widemouth. I couldn't be happier with the sound. No drone, just a nice deep tone/rumble. When you go WOT of course it is loud, but just driving normal it is fine for little kids in the back and everything. Just giving you a data point.

If you are looking for something loud and don't have the funds to get tuned, then go with the ETS extreme cat-back set up... If that doesn't to the trick for you then get their HFC as well....

I'm running the ETS extreme and its great!

I bet the V2 Extreme is loud!

I've got the V2 Quiet with the optional extra resonator along with the HFC and it's right on the cusp of being too loud for me.

Running full ETS turbo back with intake. Dp, tp and V2 regular. Guess I've gotten used to it's loudness. I don't find it loud anymore.

I Love it! I have been thinking about getting the HFC but dont feel like dealing with any CELs. How has it been for you? Have you noticed anything or is your car tuned for the changes?

The ETS HFC does not throw a CEL because it has a optional bung for the o2 sensor.

Yeah no CEL because it's dyno tuned. Plus the o2 bung is helpful.
