Well... the one thing I hate about watching you tube, is you can stumble on what Mitsubishi did for their Evo's shipped to other countries vs what we got stuck with in the US. SO.. for the lucky few in New Zealand they get.. wait for it...
1) Power Folding Rear View Mirrors that sync with the front door locks!
2) Buit in reversing Camera!!
3) Special Recaro Leather Seats!!
4) BBS Alloys with Gold lettering!!
5) Shaded rear windows and rear windshield!!
WTF?? And here is the proof:
I think it's time a penned a letter to the men in Tokyo. Not funny. Really.. this is just not cricket.

Just like you i was sad my when i found out the US final edition didn't have all the bells and whistles other country's received. Yet it didn't stop- me from getting one. now im paying a bit of a premium to get some US recaros and getting it as close as possible to what is in the video

comes in handy lol. I put in an aftermarket and it's good when backing into a spot without touching a wall or whatever. I like it.
It's an Evo that cost (with WA sales tax and extended warranty $46,000) Now with MMCS sat nav, mud flaps and side door wind deflectors $49,000. With new Recaro's and tinted windows fitted that came with the Canadian and NZ and AUS versions, that will be a $52,000 car. SO hell yes, reversing sensors and cameras as standard is the least they can do.

Have you already got your Recaro's? I have done a lot of home work on the NZ, AUS and Canadian versions of the MR's and FE's. PM me and I will put you in touch with my Mitsubishi tech at my dealership. You will save hundreds if not thousands.

I started a thread a while back about the feasibility of buying a Canadian EVO X FE and then bringing it to the US, since that one is better right off the bat with it having the BBS wheels (but in the same FE finish) and also the Recaros with the FE red stitching. Had anyone tried that?
I'm surprised more people didn't. FE's were selling here for 49k Canadian I believe, so with today's exchange rare it would be about 39-40k US. And bringing Canadian cars into the US is easy compared to bringing an US car into Canada. If I lived in the land of the free, it would be a no brainer. IMO the US FE's were a rip off. It's hardly a base model GSR with some different paint and a number allocated to it to make you feel special while sitting in your base model lancer seats on base model GSR Enkeis without a sunroof over your head - just to name a few.

I wouldn’t say the US-spec FE was a rip-off, it at least got more power and torque as well as some of the goodies that aren’t standard on the GSR (i.e. HIDs, two-piece rotors, Bilsteins), not just a black roof and a badge. It’s like how the 2010 SE was basically an MR but in GSR clothing, except now you get a stick and more punch. But clearly the Canadian FE looks better than what we got.Originally Posted by six40

It’s just that the odometer and stuff will not match.

Yeah it does have a few goodies but it sucks it lacks a lot of the good ones. For once, the Canadians got the better car than the Americans. Usually we're the ones that get shafted

We also had a really nice model here called the "handling package" Which I believe was $3,000 over the base model GSR. You got a base model GSR with the Bilsteins/Eibachs, BBS wheels, big wing, 2 piece rotors. Basically a GSR with the MR handling bits. So it was a really well spent $3k in that sense over the base GSR.

I tried to get one form the neighbors up north but was told i would have to deal with the federalization process which i did look into a bit but came across a great deal on my FE first so i bought it.Originally Posted by DeeezNuuuts83

You do realize that all of those parts (except the BBS wheels) were what I listed as being part of the US-Spec Final Edition, right? So you should like it then and not view it as a rip-off since you indicated it was money “really well spent.”Originally Posted by six40

Japanese market models have all the bells and whistles that US and other markets models don’t have. For example, the J spec Honda S2000 had factory nav system. Australia and New Zealand, being so close to Japan usually gets the best of the best models too.
It’s all good. Since you can add most of those options aftermarket. With smart shopping, probably at better prices than manufacturer equipped.

Speaking of which, I was always curious what the difference in MSRP would have been for the VIII and IX if they had given us the double-DIN and HVAC from other markets instead of the cheap ones, when it’s standard and the price is spread over the ~30,000 or so CT9A Evos that were sold.
