Major Work Milestones
Hey Guys,
Some of you may know that I have been looking for an evo to buy and have been using this forum as a great source in helping me buy the right evo. In terms of mileage, I initially wanted to get one in the <50k mile range, but then starting looking for the 20-30k range. This was just based on price, it seems a lot of similar prices for 40-60k then a 1-2k bump for 20-30k, and any less than 20k was just as expensive as brand new ones.
I'm asking your opinions on which mileage is best to get (other than the less the better) in terms of general scheduled maintenance that needs to be done. How did you decide your mileage when buying a used evo?

Typically the drivetrain fluids need changed between 15,000 and 30,000 miles. So if you are getting an Evo that is over 30,000 miles I would see if there is a record of having the transmission, transfer case, and rear diff fluids drained and filled. Most of the other maintenance is pretty typical stuff at those mileages.
As long as they are well maintained and not beaten up, they seem to be pretty reliable cars (other than the poorly located ACD pump). Buying any used car is a risk, give it a good inspection. Don't let your desire override rational decision making.
