Problem with new turbo setup

Need some input.

Added 320lph, flex fuel kit, red spec turbo with 22psi spring turbosmart wastegate, map cast manifold, map recirculated dp and 3” maf housing... it’s got full bolt ons.

Problem is, afr is really rich @ 10-12 at idle and driving. When wot, it would over boost to 30psi. Wouldn’t hold boost. My asc light came on. Wot feels sluggish. No boost leak. All vacuum hose was put back the way it was as stock.

I still have ebc, and injectors yet to install..

After all I know it needs a tune but is this expected with these mods installed? My tune/dyno is coming up and need to figure this out.

Anything welcome..

I'd just baby it / trailer it to the tuner when ready - the tune it what sorts this sort of behavior out when you have so many parts changed against the stock tune.

Anyone ever had this problem after similar parts installed?

So, you changed about everything that effects fueling, and how the ECU measures airflow, and you're wondering if it running like **** is normal and if it needs a tune?

Sigh...

Rule for EVO modification -

Any change to the car that results in a change in airflow = get a tune for the car else it will read all kinds of weird all over the place

You're going WOT without having a tune yet?!? Not sure if the 320 requires it or not. But with a 450 I had to drill out the return orfice in the fuel pump assembly. My fuel pressure was way too high

This is very simple, your car is still calibrated for stock EVERYTHING and you went and changed EVERYTHING..... Nothing is going to work right until you get a tune, end of story! You need to baby the car until you get it tuned and hope that you haven't hurt her with those WOT.

Don't mean to be harsh, but its EVO 101 that if you even think about modding the 10s you need a tune just for thinking about it. If you look at this car with mean eyes, she will break just to get you back!!!

Yes and tune is needed. Just a little worry on the over boosting and what may be causing it. Don't want to go tune and had more problems of it not holding boost.....

Only did one wot.

Its over boosting b/c that turbo is spooling faster than the stock one and the stock EBCS is not tuned to handle that so its not responding fast enough to adjust for the new turbo. Its not holding boost b/c the ECU freaks out during the overboost and shuts everything down..

This is literally the quickest and most direct path to blowing a turbo engine.

Seriously this. Stop messing around and get it tuned. You saw that the AFR was all jacked up at idle, why would you go WOT when you already saw things weren't normal?

Oh my. This thread made my day.

This is why Evos get bad reputations.

Like Jaraxle already stated, this is literally the easiest way to chuck a rod through the block.
