Looking at buying an Evo GSR...need advise

Hey guys,

As the title says, I am looking at buying a GSR and need advise. (for reference, I live in the North California/Bay Area region).

On Carvana, I see a 2015 Evolution Final Edition for $31,900 (carvana.com / vehicle / 1249704). Says the Evo has only 18,400 miles. Clean title (no accidents). Does not look modified but obviously can't know for certain. The car has HID but doesn't look like it has Rockford premium audio package.

[EDIT: Looks like the Carvana GSR FE is already purchase pending :/)

The alternative is a friend of a friend is selling his 2015 Evolution GSR (not FE) for $33,000 but may be willing to go down. This GSR has ~14,5XX miles (mostly stays in garage). He installed Recaro seats (pulled from a 2014). The Evo also has the Xeon HID lights + Rockford audio system. Has new Continental DWS tires. Also, apparently comes with a transferable 100,000 miles/10 years warranty (so basically, warranty until 2025 or 85,000 more miles). Never been modified so warranty is valid. Also clean - no accidents.

What do you guys think? $31,900 for the GSR FE or $33k (maybe bit less if negotiated) for the 2015 with Recaros + extended warranty (and slightly less miles).

Thanks for your input!

Dmitry

Get the non FE if it has the Recaro's. Seriously they make that much of a difference. The FE is really nothing special overall compared to the standard GSR.

Thanks - makes sense. The base Lancer seats in an Evo...yea just doesn't feel right.

From my experience The warranty company won’t stand behind the warranty if something happens and you have mods.
You gotta prove to someone that wants to **** you any chance they can at the warranty place that what broke down wasn’t because of the mod.

Plus the only way to experience an Evo is to mod it, so your screwed with the insurance anyways.

Id buy the Evo if I was you, especially with such low miles. It’s basically just broken in.
Price is a little high.

i agree with DRAG. warranty is nice, especially with the important stuff being covered but if you keep up with the interval services you should be fine. Plus, there's gonna come a time when youre gonna want to mod (that time will come quick) and even the smallest of things like not using the recommended fluids, or so I've read, will void warranty. As for the price, it is a little on the high side. for what its worth I bought my 14 X with 6k for 30k from a private seller. just food for thought. be patient. either way though, once you're in one you'll be happy!

Both examples is priced on the high side. I'd keep searching. Not just in the Bay/Norcal area. But the entire country. You might find a great Evo in who knows where and have to fly out. And drive it back home.

Seems you want the HID's and Rockford system. They're out there. Plenty of them. I'd try to find a SSS package GSR with minor mods/close to stock as possible.

Fly out and buy this one -

2015 - GSR - low miles - Rockford - Has Recaros added

https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=243443077

This is a solid one - you could easily get it down to 30 - car has been there a while.

- one owner
- not from a snow state
- no accidents

You won't find ones like this out there for much longer - most people that sit on fences watching cars go by end up without a car at the end of the day lol. Get it while you can they don't make these cars anymore.
Good luck with your search!
