C161e code
C161e code
So I have 2015 evo gsr and the 4wd service came up on my screen and then I checked the code and it was a c161e code with I think is the acd pump (correct me if I’m wrong). But I just checked the acd fluid in the trunk (again correct me if I’m wrong, I’m still learning about cars lol) and the fluid was low so can that be the issue then ? Or is it the pump? And if it is then am I still under warranty because it’s less than 100000 miles and a 2015 evo, any answers help, thank you
I doubt it is under warranty..
And yes it probably means the pump is going out. The fluid level can change as you drive it. So don't fill it up until it sits for a while and cools off.
The pump is a common problem especially up north where you're at.

Yea I just went to the dealership in Canada (because I go to school in Canada but the car is still under NY plates and registration) to get it diagnosed and they said it’s the pump but luckily I still have warranty on it to cover it but now I have to take it back to the states cause it’s registered under NY so they can’t do it in Canada, so I have to get diagnosed all over again in states but atleast it’s covered
Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to the forum and but here is a little back ground on my issue. I have a 2010 Evo X GSR. with only 26K miles. About 3 years back my battery completely died and I used one of those charging packs to drive my car and somehow that messed up my AYC when I got a new battery. I don't know how that related after my mechanic told be about it. But I got a used pump from ebay cause I wasn't about to spend 2500 on a new part. So I found a replacement from a Lancer. The part worked and the error went away.
A few years later, today 2020. The ACD C161E is popping up after I got my tires changed. I don't know if changing the tires messed it up or if it was a coincident. No, I didn't get a wheel alignment but don't know if that would be the issue. Sorry, I digress. The first time this code popped up was back in November 2019 and I used my AP to reset the engine, had to do it a few times but it went away, then after about a month the code popped back up and again I used the AP to reset and had to do it a few times. Now it's back up again. I don't know why it's good for a while and then error comes up. I live in NY and the code popped out yesterday when the temp was about 20 degrees. But today's weather 2/18/2020 is a mild 37 degrees but the code didn't go away after the reset. I even pulled out the AYC relay. Also, I'm not about to fork over 2500 for a pump. I just got laid off from my job and I have two kids at home. Unemployment ain't going to cover that part. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Did the code come on the first drive away from the tire shop? If not, it's unfortunately most likely a coincidence. I put two pumps on my old ralliart over 140,000mi. The design is completely inadequate for a component exposed to the environment......
If you kept your old pump and you just managed to fry the motor/solenoids you can swap those from your failing pump and give that a shot......

Hi everyone,
I'm somewhat new to the forum.
I just have a quick question. Can I pass the NYS emissions inspection with the C161E code? My emissions is due at the end of the month and I'm planning on taking it to a shop this weekend.
I'm hoping to pass so I can sell the car in a few months.
Thanks in advance!
Terry

The used pump I got lasted about 3 years and during that time I've moved and don't even remember where I put the original pump. right now I'm trying get the emissions passed so I can sell it or trade it in for another car.
If you know anyone that wants a 2010 Evo x GSR with 26,656 miles on it and running a stage 3 Cobb. I'm willing to part with it for 14k.

If the engine light is off, you should pass. In Chicago, they only check to see if the MIL pid is "on" or if more than 1 emissions monitor has not passed/ran yet.
The AYC pump should not be part of the emissions monitor, or MIL. Just like how a bad parking aid sensor will throw a message up on a Ford, but no check engine light.

Cool! I don't have a check engine light, just the 4WD service required. But when the engine is off but the car is still on like in the acc position the light is gone and when I start the car to drive the light comes on after a few yards of driving.
