Evo X Vs. Similar Cars Of Today
Evo X Vs. Similar Cars Of Today
ve been doing some research on newer cars that have come out that the Evo X would have competed with given its not discontinuation in 2015 and i don't see in regards to areas outside of comfort and a modern interior. How the Evo X for the price and performance overall doesnt beat the competition.
The competition being:
Fk8 Civic Type R
Mk3 Focus RS
Newer Wrx Sti
Veloster N
Golf R (Manual Only)
All of these cars while yes having newer nicer interiors just don't seem to stack up to the Evo X in terms of bang for your buck, reliability, aftermarket support, and performance.
The Wrx Sti is the only other car on the list to have fulltime AWD. For people that need to daily their car in the winter, the Veloster N, and Civic Type R are almost non options due to the the fact that they are soley FWD while also it seems thay for the person that wants to Mod their car the aftermarket isnt the most open place this seems to also plague the Focus RS. The Golf R stock is seen as a jack of all trades master of none vehicle and when it comes to modding it seems like stage 1 is where you need a new clutch off the bat. The WRX STI has been around for ages with the same EJ257 motor but once 350whp is achieved you need to start building a block. Yes the Evo X might start looking dated inside but as long as you have your plushy Recaro seats and can drive your still in the best driving car out of even the whole pack yes the 5 speed is dated and can make the car thirsty for gas at times but if you wantes great gas mileage you probably should have thought about a prius. Install an aftermarket head unit with carplay and your already looking alot more modern than you did back in 2008.with so many aftermarket options to choose from the Evo X is a modders paradise. All of this leads me to believe that the Evo X is still the king in regards to being the performance car that is loved to drive

I had all those cars on my List when I was Searching for a new car over a year ago minus the Veloster N.
Dollar for dollar the Evo gave me the best value of what I wanted a vehicle to be. I really liked the STi more,
but with all the issues the motor is known for and my friend having issues on his STi motor as well made the decision easier.

For me, it would come down to the STI, X, and CTR..
It just depends what you want and need. I like all of them. The STI would probably be 3rd on that list. The 6th gear helps for commutes IMO for the CTR and STI. It is getting harder to try and get the X in good shape at reasonable prices. I would like to have an X and a CTR, but just an X for now.

Really good video
I made the transition from a Evo X to a CTR and I don't regret It. It depends on your goals and what you want in a car. For me, I was concerned with great handling, lightweight, quiet and had great factory performance. I also I think it's pretty cool Honda uses the car in competition. If you plan on heavily modifying your car, I say get the Evo X. I think the X is a great second car, but I was in the market for a daily so the CTR checked the boxes for what I was looking for. Also take in consideration that if this is your DD, some of the cars you listed you can get brand new as opposed to the X.

This is EXACTLY why I expect to get top dollar for my Evo X IF I ever plan to sell it. I'm married with two kids and I LOVE my X but I do look at 4runners now and then. My wife has a Honda Pilot so that's our vacation/family car. My X is BONE STOCK (power wise). I've never raced it and all the maintenance has been done at dealerships/mechanics so I can provide all of the records showing oil changes, brake pad changes, etc. Its VERY rare to find X's that haven't been heavily modded or beat to sh*t.
Trending Topics
Slight drift on topic (apologies) but I came from an Audi S1 and was seriously looking for my next car amongst the new offerings (2 years ago) from Ford, Audi, Mercedes. I test drove a Focus RS, and Audi RS3 Sportback and a Merc AMG A45. I felt underwhelmed by the ford and the Audi/AMG were very nice places to sit, preferring the AMG as a personal preference I chose to go back to my most favourite car I've owned to date an Evo 9GT , this time in Wagon form for practicality , had I chosen an AMG I would have opted for a CLA45 Wagon/shooting brake. Yes the Evo NVH is nowhere near modern stuff but its still good enough for a daily driver and I've fixed the lack of in car tech by fitting an Alpine Halo9 head unit, I also have a reverse camera to plum in to that when I can be harrised to route the wiring from rear to head unit. I plan on running the 9GT Wagon (manual box) until the availability of parts/car use legislation make the use of it as a daily difficult or impossible.
