Nope never. When the magnet went it just started skipping 2nd and 4th as the transmission is designed to protect itself when things to awry. So it disabled even gears until fixed.

It may never happen, but the only way for it not to happen would be to buy a replacement transmission that's been rebuilt by Jack's Transmissions or by Kozmic Motorsports and pop it in the car / or have them rebuild the transmission when and if you ever have the issue.

I'm really not trying to freak out out per say, just encourage you to go into an MR with open eyes. RazorLabs and others have 'current realistic pricing' for an SST transmission but it's a few thousand if ever needed / if you need work done on it. The transmission flushes are pricey as welll.

I loved the MR and had it been a solid one I may still have had it today. This one may very well be a solid one that you're considering, however it's also 9 years old now and the bits on it that may break, if they break, would be pricey to replace / repair.

That's all I'm suggesting Perhaps put up a new thread asking for current MR owners to post up their experiences / how long they've had the car etc. There is also a dedicated SST sub forum here that might be worth giving a look over.

Good luck with your choice! I still love the EVO and just because I had a bad experience doesn't negate the entire MR platform
