Airbag light

The fault code says its a passenger seat airbag sensor issue. Is that the same thing as the passenger position sensor? "Airbag service is required" light is ignorable but annoying.

is the unit pictured the thing I need to replace? I took it off the bottom of the passenger seat. The part # comes back as a passenger position sensor.

That's the occupancy sensor, yes. But that error will get triggered if you remove the seat with the battery connected. So, if you haven't had the seat out it's possible the module is bad or there's an issue with the wires or connector. There's a re-calibration process if you replace the sensor or if you pull the seat out with the battery connected that requires a trip to the dealer.

Occupancy sensor

So, I foolishly sold the front seats and did not remove the passenger occupancy sensor. Can the one I have, that is VIN locked to another car, be reprogrammed?
