Bought my first 2011 Evo X MR on my 50th birthday and started tracking it the next year. I left the engine stock, except of an AMS manifold, but added many track goodies such as Ohlin's, gauges, and extra cooling. I had a chance to bail on the Evo platform four years ago when I put the car hard into a wall at Sonoma but instead I bought another 2011 MR and had all of the track goodies transferred. I still have the engine and SST from the first Evo. Since then I have thought about bailing on the Evo several time, but not because of smog. I was getting sick of **** breaking and cutting my track days short. Even came home in a rental a couple of time. About two years ago I got so sick of thing failing that I took an 18 month break from the HDPE thing. I got a tow rig and have made it out to three track days. The first two were incident free but at Sonoma last week the fuel pump died in the pit lane before I got even a single lap. However, I'm still committed to the platform.

I'd like to think I'm growing into this platform. I've taken the Evo non-op and plan to go full race car with it. I no longer have to smog it or pay for liability insurance (I got trailer and paddock insurance from Hagerty). However, right now I just want more track time and I'm kind of broke after buying a truck and trailer and paying off the remaining loan on the second Evo.

ironically i registered my cars out of MO (red) into IL (blue) for less restrictive emissions testing. such a PITA. also had to pay personal property tax on cars in MO (wtf?)

i do want to move to cali at some point, those racetracks and year round racing is too good - but i plan on leaving at least the evo registered in IL.

i'm definitely done modifying cars outside of really more than 20% of what they came with, if not stock altogether. i miss my e92 m3, and missed that it was stock. kind of want a gt3 but no amount of driving could justify their price (for me). evo will be the last car i own that gets these kinds of extensive modifications

What the hell are you retards from California thinking?? Wake up literally. You live in the most beautiful state and put up with the most retarded emission laws. Learn what's going on with politics and start making a change rather than *****ing about it and giving up something you love. You only have a week or so left to get enough signitures on the petition in your state to get that ****ty *** governor neussum out of office. I live in pennsylvania and the fing wildfires were so bad this year it completely fed the weather up at the end of summer this year multiple times. Yet 93 octane is too much of a pollutant. It's people like razerlab that that carry their communist liberal ideology and pollute the next great state they move too then ***** about it.

LOL how about you mind your own business. California is beautiful, so we should scrap environmental regulations and trash it? How about you crack a book...or do a google search and see what the place looked like before smog laws. I realize being ignorant is a pride point for you folks but seriously try doing a little research.

P.S. I fill up on 100+ octane exclusively, and it's cheaper than regular 87. It's easier to swim with the current than against it.

P.S.S. Who is # 1? That's right California, we don't need your advice/opinions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._States_by_GDP
