Evo x cranks but won’t start freezing temperature

Hi so two days ago, my car wouldn’t start so I got jumper cables and after 30 minutes It started and sand good the rest of the day no issues.

The next day I came out and it also wouldn’t turn over. But I left it alone, tested the batteries came out to 14V. All my electronics are working fine. I also haven't left anything on to drain the battery.
It turns over. I checked I am also getting a spark on my plugs.

Last tried using starter fluid but it still didn’t start.

left it alone, came back in the evening after freezing temperatures had gone away and it turned over right away.

anyone have any suggestion?

Even though everything inside works, it could still be the battery going bad. I would just replace it and the problem will probably be gone.

even through the battery is throwing out over 14 volts? You only need 12.6 to start it. That’s the only reason I am confused on why it be the battery. I took it to autozone too and they said it was good. Fully charged and yesterday when it was sunny and the temperature raised up it start right up.

The battery shouldn't be reading that high. It should be 12.x volts with the car not running. If they tested it and it was good ide start checking the electrical terminals for corrosion / looseness

Thanks man, I’ll check the terminals later today. I started looking into batteries and I think the autozone guy gimped me. Couple months ago I needed a battery and he told me this would work so I got it since it was the only thing in stock. Looking through the forum I think most people go with optima or the oddesy battery I may make the buy even though the guy said this would work and it didn’t start giving me any issues until now with the cold weather.

I guess my next question is why or how do I know if it’s not fuel related? My dads an old school car guy and he doesn’t think it’s the battery. He was leaning towards something fuel related.

you could pull the fuel return line from the rail and put it into a gatorade bottle or something and crank the engine. Should see a good amount of fuel coming out. Def do this with 2 people and a fire extinguisher handy. If you suspect injectors you can crank and then pull the spark plugs to see if they are wet. I will add though that all these systems are volts dependent so before doing any of that putting a meter from the block to the Positive junction under the hood and watching volts during cranking would be a good idea. If you have an openport 2.0 ( Every evo owner should IMO) you can log volts during cranking.

yeah I’ll probably try that this weekend. I got a an odyssey battery and that didn’t fix my issue. $300 down the drain 😂.

Thank you!

Have you had the relays replaced under warranty? There have been 4+ revisions to the relay Mitsu uses on our cars for vital systems and can cause intermittent no-start conditions.

Thanks for your response!
yeah I have all 4 orange ones. I’ve swapped them around but the issue still happens. I’m going to test them out this weekend as well.

Try tossing them in the freezer for a few hours before you test them.

I ended up just ordering the kit from map and it gets here tomorrow (Monday). I’m going to just swap them out with new ones and see what happens.

I took them out and let them warm up inside. Put them back in and nothing. But I still have hope 😂

Relays weren’t it. Switched them but it still won’t crank if it’s to cold.

I am going to test gas later.

I sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body it started in the cold. Throttle body was extremely dirty.
cleaned up the throttle body. Ordered a new gasket and I’ll be putting it back in tomorrow.

only question I have is do you or anyone know what the sensor on the throttle body is. It doesn’t like the TPS I’ve seen online. Picture below for reference.
