Good morning.. After three years of not owning an Evo, I am finally back with a 2008 GSR with what I am told is SSS package? I have never worked on a X, never even sat in a X and I bought this basket case.. I purchased it from the previous owner who said it was good, and that it has been sitting on jack stands untouched for six years, in pieces in boxes. That was April 10th. I am in the process of putting the car back together to the point that it can run, which at this point I should be at. When I say in pieces, assume that EVERYTHING has been ****ed with, and I am attempting to fix it.
Please understand that the car is OEM for the most part now, but the previous owners last build was large turbo on E85, so I had the ECU bench refreshed to a start tune with stock parts according to Raif at RRT Motorsports.
Last night I tried to get the car to turn over. It does not crank. I heard the fuel pump run when the key was in the START position, but only when the key was in START. It did not sound like it was priming. This morning I popped the return line off the fuel rail, and no fuel.. swapped the wires on the pump, and verified that there is now fuel at the rail when holding the key in the START position.
The dash has pretty much every light on right now. I do not have a Tactrix cable anymore, but I do have an OBD scan tool.
The starter does not do anything. It doesn't kick out, nor does it attempt to turn. I tested the relay this morning and it tested good as far as I can tell. Going to try a couple other things in the meantime.
I just jumped the starter relay pins in the fuse block, with the key in the ON position. The starter did kick out and spin, and turned the motor over but no start...
I ran the OBDII scanner, and it came back with no codes. I noticed that once I connect the battery and turn the key to the ON position, the Service Engine Soon light comes on, and then clears after about 10 seconds. So I guess there are no CEL codes. I also took a picture of the Service Required thing that keeps popping up in the dash, along with the hood open and door open warnings but I assume those two warnings wouldn't cause a no start condition.. but the key may???
Did you ever get it running? I had the same issue. For me I never plugged the starter back in after having the wireharness off. The connectors go in backwards from what you would thing they do. ALSO the A/C connector is the same as the Starter lead, so make sure you didnt swap them by mistake as they both reach.
