Brand New Motor, With 'Service Engine Soon', light won't turn off...

My name is Dave, last year July 31st, my engine blew. I had to fight to get a brand new motor. On Nov 16th, I got my car back. After I got my car back that same night, the Service Engine Soon, decided to come on, on the day I drove my car back home from 4 months of not having her. Now, I've been back and forth from the dealership here in CT. They can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I haven't paid for anything thank god. What they did around Dec of last year, was they changed out the 02 sensor and cleaned the M.A.F. They didn't work. I was down there yesterday actually. Feb 2, 2022, the guy told me that he found the problem. He swapped out this EVAP which was from my car and took another one off of some other car. He said that they are interchangeable. It shows that he was pinching off the hose and the AFR's stayed pretty much -, but once he released the AFR's are all over the damn place.
So, I'm asking what do you guys think this problem could be? If it's that solenoid that's giving me problems, wouldn't you want to keep checking in the same area, and follow those lines?
He told me he took off the blow-off, and all the intake and re-attached them, because he thought that might be the cause.
A brand new motor should NOT!! have a light on at all. Maybe something under boost is ****ing up, I don't know. Or maybe a loose plug or something not plugged in. The car runs rich, and you can def smell it. Which smells great, but I don't think it's worth riding rich, it's better than lean I'm sure lol

Yeah, a tune is pretty much required for most intakes and definitely for an ETS style. A good tuner will be able to look at your stock airflow metering and see if there's anything off there. It's always a challenge to get a tune on a car that's not running right though so make sure all the basics are covered. Make sure you don't have any vaccum or boost leaks before you engage a tuner.
Scan for the code and get a tune immediately. What's the reason your original engine blew.
Oil drain plug came out they didn't tighten it. I got my oil done one week and all of a sudden mid next week I come back from doing errands in town and my parking spot was full of oil

See, I wasn't told that an intake would need a tune, a test pipe, or a mid-pipe with no cat you need one, and if you have a downpipe you will need a tune as well.
Also, the old motor I had last before it went, there were no issues with what I have installed onto the car. Which is strange.

Hmm.. Okay, thanks for getting back to me and letting me know.
And yet it blew up, and here you are with a brand new motor and lingering issues. Probably best to dump assumptions and get methodical with figuring out your problems.
IMO you have 2 options:
Put it back to stock, so that a regular tech with a shop manual has a chance at figuring out the issues. (TBH this dealership your working with sounds kinda iffy, just throwing used parts from other cars on it is pretty sketch in my book. I don't want to be too harsh though, I know the frustrations of diagnosing problems on modded cars.)
Take it to an evo expert that can diagnose issues with modified evos.

can you replicate the hose pinching/AFR thing? maybe you can follow that hose. i'm imagining thats the pressure relief for the gas tank (?)
Yes, I was thinking of the same thing, if he would just stick by the hose where he pinched it off and work around that area. But, in the download link for the video you can tell that something is going on around that area. Was, hoping it would have took a longer time and not just swap one part from a car to another.

Ahhh IC, thats rough. My bad for making assumptions(how ironic) . Sorry if it sounded like I was jumping down your throat. We get a lot of folks coming on here with issues and closed minds. Usually those threads devolve pretty quickly into arguing about what it couldn't be vs. just following advice and crossing stuff off the list.
In my experience, most mitsubishi dealerships are incompetent. An evo is just so far removed from anything mitsubishi is selling / making these days, and even back in the day they sucked. Probably no surprise that the best techs aren't working for mitsubishi. No offense to any mitsu techs reading this, I'm sure you're the exception that proves the rule.

razorlab is right. 99% of aftermarket high flow CATS do actually almost NOTHING. Which means you will get the codes unless you tune the ECU to ignore it.

What's up? I bought the car used in 2019. Car was bone stock or put back to stock. There wasn't a tune on it that I know of. If there was I'm sure the new motor wouldn't have worked. All those mods I had were on the prev motor and I didn't have any problems, nor light on. So, it's just really odd to me that there's a light on NOW! when there never was on the prev motor I had.
