New Evo owner. Whats been done?

Hello all.

As the title states, I just picked up my 14 GSR a few days ago from a small dealer in VT. I'm now looking to see what's been done to the car and try to diagnose an issue. I have a few ideas on what it could be, but I'll try to provide as much details as possible without writing a novel.

First I'll run through what I can identify it has for aftermarket items. Looks like an aftermarket intercooler and hard pipes. EMS intake and a full catless exhaust. It also has a Cobb Access port V3 but the interface says its not running a map currently. Thats what I'm able to clearly identify for parts. However, when inspecting some vacuum lines last night, it looked like the injector harness has splice points which makes me think it may have different injectors as well. I will provide a picture. Also, the fuel line in the engine bay has a braided AN section with a Russell 40 micron filter inline which appears to not be factory from what research I've done.

No with that out of the way here's what the car does. Upon warming up slightly the idle becomes erratic. Whether just idling in place or after coming to a stop. It seems to bounce between 1-2k and sort or levels out around 1100 but still fluctuates some. The car also has a noticeable hesitation / bucking when the car starts to build boost. Extremely noticeable in 5th while cruising when you start to build a little pressure and it hiccups then seems to take off a bit, but the car is def not building what it should for boost based off the Cobb. Like 8psi max is what I have seen. Not sure how accurate the Cobb is either so there is that.

The plan is to order some different plugs, Replace that Russell filter with a 10 Micron, order a wideband a real boost gauge and see where I'm at from there. I have a suspicion that the fuel filter is partly the culprit as I had similar results when I purchased my JZX90 a few years back, but I def have concerns with a possible boost leak as well. Some of the clamps are in questionable position on the couplers and some clamps are not so good.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. I'm stoked to get this thing under way.

Thanks

Sounds like a bad IAC motor but until you get the WBO2, you won’t know. I suspect the tune is off. First thing for me would be to do new spark plugs, oil, etc. once you have the data logging. Then have a professional tuner help. You are doing everything right by getting the wideband O2 going.

Any check engine light?

The other diagnostic is to look for vacuum leaks and do a boost leak test. Large injectors can make idle rough too but never heard of them increasing the idle.

Assuming Mitsubishi bounced once again into stage rally, or essentially resuscitated the Lancer Evolution, we're certain that would assist with lifting Mitsu's picture all over the planet. Obviously, a rising picture doesn't really mean expanded vehicle deals, which is probable Mitsubishi's top goal.
