Evo X Open Dump down pipe

Long time lurker in the Evo world. I recently picked up a low milage 2014 MR. I've already gone down the mods rabbit hole. One thing I was looking into adding is an open dump down pipe paired with a high flow cat and the ultimate racing cat back system. As for the open dump down pipe is this option pearly for more noise or is there an added benefit to it? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Your WG will be less restrictive and won't add to your exhaust, allowing it to flow a little better. Does this translate to more HP? IDK..

i think its mostly noise, i did it as well back in the day, but took it off shortly after, it gets to be too much IMO

It really depends on the setup. Open dumps have benefits at higher horsepower levels as there is less restriction on the wastegate dump in theory allowing for better boost control and such. In practice, unless you are building a track or drag monster, it is mostly noise you are getting.
