Canadian Rear Bumper PROBLEM

for all those that wanted to know about the Canadian rear bumper. As you all know the Canadian evo x has an added on rear bumper that looks like crap. I was in the process of taking it off and i stopped half way. As you will see in the following picture i put red and blue circles and green lives to indicate things better. Too hard to get under car with a digital SLR and take pictures of the areas. The Red circles indicate that here is a bolt there that goes right through your COLORED bumper So unless you want to bondo that or fiber it and then paint it again too bad. The the blue circle is a screw that goes through the bumper and then through the plastic one. So you got nice hole in your black plastic bumper as well. Like i said i got half way then said forget it. Where i marked the green lines is where the extra bumper seems to be connected and it has pins in it, to hold it in place. If you were to take the extra bumper off i would recommend taking the whole bumper off then removing the extra piece. I never completed the mod due to having to purchase new rear bumper and diffuser, so i said forget it.

Nope! Just wait until the snow flies and the first time that someone locks up their tires and rear-ends you at an intersection.

Then we will be glad that we have that extra piece of plastic covering our asses!

^ I disagree, if u had paid 13k less for your evo in the us, then u wouldn't care if someone gave u a little fender bender. Our bumper laws suck *****, they're just there for insurance companies!

I's used to it and now it doesn't even bother me. Over time though that black plastic will fade and look like ****.

Bumper law is gone as of last sept. We are in Harmony with USA now as far as that is concerned. Canadian insurance assoc. is miffed though. So maybe the rates for the newer evos are slightly higher. I think if they found out you removed it, your rates would be higher, or perhaps they may not even cover it as the car was insured (the 08's anyway) with that bumper extension in mind.

Although i noticed other lancers dont have it.
