As dumb as this sounds...I would just as well leave it off and pay the occasional fine for not having one I mean some of you have been going for over a year and nothing. 25-50 a year for running no plate is fine in my book, lol.

I have seen some mount the plate down over the lower lip, they actually bend it to fit the contor of the lower bumper. I will post a pic when I see my buddy again, he needs one being in the 'hot' spots all the time. I just drive to and from work so no need really.

I picked up a license plate bracket at Advance Auto Parts for $4 and used a small bungee cord I had, which you could purchase for probably $1, or maybe more like $5 if you had to buy a package of them. So, it's safe to say that for under $15 you can take care of the problem. Click on the picture for a larger view. I suck at posting pics.

Not shown in the picture, I put some self adhesive padding on the back so that the bracket will not rub or marr the plastic on the car. That bungee will wear out, so I might have to replace it once a year or so. The nice thing is, unless it flat out breaks, it can't fall off the car. The cord ends are held in place by the pressure of the license plate, so even if the cord was stretched and had a lot of slack, it would stay on.

I saw it in person and I think it works great. It's good to see that Toolapcfan (Rob) brings some nice fabrication ideas to the EVO crowd. (We're both former SR20forum guys)

Now I just hope you don't drive so fast at this Sunday's AutoX so your new plate falls off. AYC FTW!

this brings up another Idea. with this setup you could just bend small aluminum bracket with 2 holes in the end and acutally bolt it together ,

shape like this from the top

________
___i i___

slip it behind the nose and it would be well bolted on without drilling holes , I will have to look at how easy it could be slipped into place. Lowes and both Home depot sell thin aluminum stock.

Mksevo, that's a great idea, but I think I can take your idea and go a step further which would be simpler to do. Get a pair of battery tie down bolts, cut them to the proper length and bend a "J" on the ends. Slip some rubber hose over the "J" ends so they don't marr the plastic. The ends would grab the lip of the plastic in the back and the threaded ends would slip through the bracket I bought, just far enough for me to put a nylon lock nut on the end. It won't wear out and it won't fall off either. I'll pick the parts up tomorrow, try it out and post pics.

^ could you also post a wider shot, so the entire front end can be seen, maybe w/license plate (blurred out #s of course).

Toolapcfan , that sound like a very doable project, I didnt think about those old J hooks . should work well and you wont have to slip it behind the nose cone.

I think you guys are overthinking this...

I use 3m double sided tape to hold the plastic bracket and the license plate is attached to that.

At the track, I just rip it off the car... when off the track, I tape it back on. I did this on my IX, and now on my X. Never had a problem with it falling off. Try it. Go to home depot and buy yourself a roll of red 3m double sided high strength tape. It works.

/end of licence plate in front dilemma.

There's no dilemma. People are just collaborating on better ideas than double sided tape. If it works for you then by all means go for it, but I'm sure most peole here would rather have something else that doesn't leave a residue, holes or damage their front clips.

no damage to your paint at all? curious cuz those red 3M tape can be very sticky.
