I did go for it... been at it for over a year now. No Residue, no holes, no damage. My point it is.. if it works, why not?

I still think you guys are overthinking this... 5 pages of collaborating on the front plate is a bit overkill, dont you think? To the original OP, try double-sided tape. it works.

I've seen both of antics' evos running the double sided tape for the front license plate. No paint damage, no residue, and no unusual paint wear. This is what I will also run for my front plate. It's simple, effective, cheap, and a genuine solution.

Sorry I didn't read the rest of the posts, but I don't think magnets will work unless you want to add extra weight with a bigger magnet or price for replacing a lost plate?

No, 5 pages isn't overkill considering the manufacturer obviously spent less time thinking about it when they decided we should screw it to our bumper. Hell, two threaded inserts up front would have been less involved than what they came up with. I'm sticking with the damn bungee strap as it is, "if it works, why not?" my sentiments exactly, what I've done works, I'm done overthinking it.
Double sided tape is more likely to fail, so I'm not going to try it, it's not worth having to buy another plate over, or possibly damaging my car were it to fall off.

no offense to you antics, but I do want to throw this out there, according to your location info under your name, you're in socal. Do you have any experience with the double sided tape in below freezing temps, snow, rain, etc? I'm in chicagoland so that'd be a reality for me. I guess I'm askin for the operating temp of the tape?

the 3m plastic nub velcro tape must be good with heat because its what we use in IL to attach our IPass units to the windshield in direct sunlight and they hold and no issues.

Exactly! I (personally) believe that if it is strong enough to survive the temp range in our neck of the woods, it'll be too strong to not damage the paint

Just a little info on what I did . seem to work well and very quick to change.

I bought one of the cheap autozone universal lic plate and zipped tied it with 2 long zip tie end to end. very easy to get it behind the molding. very snug. over the front bumper. fit perfect in size only blocks a couple on inches on the bumper holes. seems so far to be the best location, looks good in the center rather than to one side.. mounts flush,
