Wink How to remove and where is the ECU located?

Does anybody know where the ECU is located on the X? I remember it being located in the glove compartment on the VIII, is it the same location and how do I get to it so I can take it out and so I can get my ECUTEK flash? Thanks.

Its in the engine bay, in the back on the right. Few bolts hold it in.

I was going to do a quick write up since there are some threads about these so I'll try to post some pics when I get back home. It's fairly simple.

Ok here we go. You'll need a socket wrench with a long extension with 10mm and 12mm sockets. I can't remember which bolts are which size but you'll figure it out.

The ECU is located under the hood in the engine bay (1).

Just remove the two bolts holding the metal plate (2,3) and then the bolts holding the frame holding the ECU in place (4,5).

Once those are removed - the two plugs can be taken out by pulling the black plastic back and unscrewing the bolts holding the ECU to its frame.

Here's another picture from above of bolts 4 and 5 - hope it helps.

Good Luck!

I haven't checked the service manual for this but it might be in there.

Here's a link to the thread where you can download the service manual:

Yea, Al flashed mine a couple weeks ago. Amazing power compared to stock - you'll love your tune.
