I mounted them in my old STi with no relay. The cars factory relay takes care of them. You will have to add an extra ground wire for them. I took them out before I traded the car, so I'm going to make some brackets to mount them in my EVO X and paint the horns black this time.

I just ordered a set of these. For those of you that have them installed, did you run a wire from the battery in the trunk to the horn? Trying to figure out another option if possible.

thanks

Search on YouTube, you'll find lots comparisons. It's actually kinda hilarious. Nothing says gtfo like splitting someone's eardrum.

Just wondering if you really need the relay on the X?
Gotta bump this, Did you ever find an answer to this question?

Danke for the thread, answered a couple of my other questions.

I never used a relay on my 8 either. Stock horn relays are 30 amp so why would you need to add another??? Makes it so much easier for the install too.

Kept the horns in the stock locations and painted them black. The red looked like rice. Very stock like until you use them!

Is the stock horn that bad?

I didn't think a horn could be any worse than the one on my Mazdaspeed3, which I replaced.

If it is, I 'll be sure to replace it when I pick up my X.

Stock horns sound like every other vehicle on the road. These will get peoples attention when needed. Also a good option for an alarm since they are not fun to be around with the alarm going off.

4 horns is overboard and extra weight. 2 is all you need.

I also painted mine black since I couldn't stand the red behind the grills.

I must have missed the "4 horn" reference. Where'd that come from?
