Chargespeed Evo X Bonnet Center Duct
Recently received my Chargespeed Evo X CF Bonnet Center Duct from an order placed a few weeks back from Vivid Racing. Its an easy enough job requiring less than a half hours work (I surmised), but I figured there are never enough how-to guides to browse during work hours, right?
I also give credit to this tread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...p-removal.html
Here is the CF in question (delicious AMS FMIC in the background awaiting install):

Authentic Chargespeed goodness. Sadly, no free Chargespeed sticker for extra HP!

Metal clips that can easily be removed with a set of pliers.

One of two stubborn plastic tab pieces that need to be removed in order to take off the heat shield. Some prying of it and bending of the heat shield is in order.

Three out of the five 10mm bolts that need to be removed.

Simple enough to push the plastic pins out and then the duct itself.

Now, remove the five bolts from the OEM scoop and move it over.

Unfortunately, fitment was NOT OEM. Far from it. In fact, the channels for the bolts look like it was done by a 5 year old monkey with a dremel. None of the bolts fit without some minor dremel/filing work to make enough room for the bolts. Luckily the holes did line up after that. I guess its expected with stuff like this, but I hoped for better I guess?

So here is the picture with the duct installed.

It came out rather nicely I think. It is certainly much larger than I had expected, showing off the CF rather strongly, which kinda works, but it does change the Evo X hood a bit.
I just had one question for y'all: I currently have the aluminum heat shield back in place, but I was wondering if the minimal air channel could somehow minimize the benefit of a larger duct? (If you ever look at the two holes in the heat shield you'll know they are much smaller than even the OEM scoop itself.) Would it be smart to cut larger holes in it or remove it completely? From my point of view, it seems the turbo would be better served by more airflow and not small, but concentrated air. Thoughts on this?
