Evo X Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) Installation Howto (Illustrated)
Thanks for the great writeup. I just did my ETS FMIC/Pipes today and this really helped!
The unfortunate thing is that I have two left over plastic clips and I have no idea where they go. I went and double checked everything too. Oh well, I guess I'll check again some other time.
Not sure how many ponies I picked up, but from the butt dyno, I can definitely tell you that 3rd/4th/5th gears pull much harder. I'm loving my Evo even more now!

There are probably people wondering about this so I figured I put a quick post on this thread. It is possible to change the FMIC with out removing the front bumper.
I had my car about a foot and a half in the air on jack stands for some other work and thought I would give it a try. It really isn't that bad but it would be easy to damage the fins so I don't recomend it. After reading this post I plan to give this a try when i go back stock this coming weekend.

Great write-up, thanks a lot. Just installed my 4" ETS IC last night and took me about 4 hours total. However, about 2 hours was spent cursing Mitsubishi for the stupid plastic clips under the bumper, a couple of which were either frustratingly difficult to pull off, or to shove back in their holes. After tearing up my finger tips, I ultimately broke one of them trying to fit it. The ones underneath were the only ones that gave me trouble, likely from all the road debris and their awkward location. Everything else worked out great for someone doing this for the first time.
Two more things. I have a 2010 MR which didn't have the second row of 10mm bolts under the bumper mentioned. Also, don't forget to unclip the connection for the fog lights right in the middle at the front before you try to rip the bumper off. Thanks again!

ETS 3.5" FMIC & UICP on the way and I'm definitely going to use this guide!
Quick question though, can someone elaborate on the LICP bracket issue? I may pick up the ETS LICP before I do the FMIC install but I'd like to know if there's a problem with the LICP bracket that would make me prefer to stay with the stock LICP. Thanks!
