^+1 I just received my pro kit today and read the instructions and it said to trim the bump stops. I thought i read on another thread that there was no need to trim or someone just didnt do it. Please chime in if you did not trim the bump stops.
Bump Stops
I installed my pro kit springs and rear sway bar yesterday. Did not tackle the front sway yet.
Here are pictures of bump stops and what Eibach recommends. Seemed that there was a lot of different information out there on what to do with the stops, so I called Eibach to see what they said.
First two pictures are of front bumps stops. Eibach recommends only removing the "ring" which is the black plastic piece that is around the stop under the dust cover(the clean spot you can see directly next to the ring in the second picture). The dust cover is kinda a pita to get on and off, but the "ring" comes off fairly easily with gentle persuasion(no tools or swearing required).
The last picture is the rear bump stop. It is located under the dust cover, but not attached to it like the front. Eibach recommends removing the "ring" and trimming 15mm. Again the "ring" is the white piece next to the stop in the 3rd picture and located on the clean spot you can see prior to removal. Removing the ring was a pita on the rears because the stop is a small diameter and more difficult to contract(persuade) to slip it off. I used a roto tool, scored it and then used a flat head to essentially pry it off to try and keep from damaging the stop. And I talked to this one a little bit while removing.
Then you just trim the bottom bell off. It is close enough to 15mm and seemed to make sense so the end was similar to prior to cutting. I did not put a picture of the cut because mine was not pretty. I use a box cutter...because it was what was sitting there when I got to this point.
This is probably more information than anyone wanted, but now you can do with it what you want. Oh the sway bar took about 15 minutes and was extremely easy to do.
