Paint is an insulator and an intercooler is a heat exchanger. Two opposite things.

As the previous poster mentioned, you can get it anodized. Or buy one from a company like ETS that offers them in different colors.

Yes, you can paint your intercooler. Use high-temp paint. Although, as they've mentioned, you will lose some efficiency. How much? Hard to say. The chances of it causing any problems are really slim.

I have an ETS intercooler. The stensil on the front looks like crap. I also don't want to ruin it the intercooler by painting it with the wrong things

I'm sure you can remove the paint from the stencil and then polish it.

You could always send it back to ETS to get it anodized. That way it will get done rigt the first time.

Or just give me your ETS intercooler and then you can buy a new anodized intercooler from ETS.

I would call them up and ask what they could do. That or just paint it. This debate between paint hurting intercoolers has been going on FOREVER. It doesn't really mess anything up. You should be fine.

I painted my Ntercooler sprayer properly (scuffed it, used self etching cuz its aluminum, and low gloss black Engine Enamel Duplicolor paint) and it chipped all to hell within a couple weeks. Dont paint. Anodize. It sticks better

Remove the intercooler and clean it with brake cleaner. DO NOT polish your intercooler! There is no way to polish the intercooler with out damaging the cooling fins. Once the intercooler has been cleaned with out bending the fins; find some flat black hi temp paint. Rustolium barbecue paint works well and touches up great if you actually get and rock chips (you shouldn't). Garrett turbo did a study a few years ago that proved flat black high temp paint to have no effect on cooling. Meaning that if you paint your intercooler with said paint, you will not have any adverse effects to the intercooler performance.
