Rexpeed vortex gen evo x question

It seems to me that the leading edge of the Rexspeed VG would hurt laminar flow on the trailing part of the roof and could upset the effectiveness of the rear wing. The factory MR VG leading edge was smoother and more beveled at the leading edge:

Here are some technical papers done by Mitsubishi engineers for the Evo IX Vortex Generator and the Evo X roof and wing design:

For the OP, 3M makes very high adhesive strength double faced tape. I used this when I mounted a Mugen wing to my 2007 Honda Civic along with the fasteners provided. Provided a really tight seal. At Wal-Mart, you can find various degrees of adhesive bonding for the double faced tape. The stuff I used has a red film that you peel off.

wish I saw this thread before I tried installing my rexpeed vg a month or so ago. I literally have the same issue as the op did. currently the vg is sticking up a little on the driver side on my car, but after some of my own attempts gave up. It still bothers me looking at my car but I'm cooping.

I bought mine from another EvoM member. The hole for the SSS antenna was a bit small so I had to sand it out a bit for it to fit. I bought a roll of the 3M Automotive tape, that seems to hold like cement. I installed mine on a hot day, left it sit out in the sun to give it some flex then stacked some weights on top of a towel and put those on the corners when I installed it. One corner does still pop up a bit, but it seems to be holding fine otherwise...

I've given up on 3M tape altogether. Go get some butyl tape. This stuff is a malleable tape that is like soft gum when it gets warm.
To put it on you need to warm it up a bit and basically mold it onto the side you want attached to your car. Make sure that you put it thin enough that it doesn't just stick up and leave a gap. In areas that seem to pop up use a little more to make it level. Once you have the butyl tape all spread out, press it down and use a cloth on the top of your VG to press onto the car. Use some pressure to make sure the VG stays on. If you have a heat gun give it a couple once overs to warm the butyl tap under the VG and apply pressure again.
If you are still worried that it'll come off... I suggest that you use both 3M tape and the butyl tape.

Scotch 1-in Two-Sided Tape
-Holds up to 10 lbs
-Weather-resistant, double-sided tape works on a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces such as painted cement or brick, glass, wood, metal, tile, ceramic, and more
-Faster, safer, and more versatile than nails and screws
good stuff!!
