Evo X How Tos / InstallationsPost or link to your detailed how to / installation articles in here. If you have any questions regarding the how tos, feel free to post them in the Request sub-forum.
Will update this post later on to save others the issues I have had installing a Snow Performance Stage II "Evo X tailored" Kit. My main problem is the longer swap bolts that are sent in the kit are too short by about a minimum of a 1/4". WHAT SIZE Are the Throttle Body Threads? M8 x 1.25???? Summit Sells 75mm long bolts.
After looking into this for quite some time and I also had some extra money laying around I decided to pull the trigger on a Snow Performance Methanol System.
Once the package arrived at my house and began inventorying (ripping the box open) I found that red tubing was shipped instead of the requested black tubing. I tried calling Snow Performance but the phone would just ring and ring. I even went so far as to remain professional and Facebook Message them. Again, no reply, , zip, zap, nothin'.
Strike 1, No Big Deal, nothin' a little black spray paint can't fix to make the kit more stealthy from the accountant.
To be honest, with a kit billed as EVO X specific I sorta thought they would have incorporated the rear mounted washer fluid reservoir. I mean it doesn't take much imagination to realize it was set up for more than bug juice. A.k.a. IC sprayer, Methanol Tank, and etc. Oh well, with some careful razor blade surgery I was able to remove the plastic pipe fitting from the shipped three quart tank and glue it to the Mitsubishi tank and plumb it for a level float as well.
Just be careful with that lol. Lots of people with blown engines due to failed Methanol systems. Also, make sure you set it up in a way that the mist is making it to all 4 cylinders. The problem is, when you spray through the throttle body, some cylinders get more than others.
Methanol does work and is fairly reliable. Make sure you have a few redundancy items an you will be fine. I ran Meth on my Supra for 6+ years and it worked great.
I agree with jakgal and suggest moving the spray point back from the throttle body. It will help cool the air more since it will be in contact with it longer and it tends to have a more even distribution than when injected right at the throttle body.
Let me know how it goes I'd love to eventually add meth to my EVO.
