Scratch Repair - Got keyed....
Crap! I got keyed this afternoon...
Before taking it to a body shop, I thought I'd try my best to cover it up. I was going to try and order Dr. Color Chip, but their web-site says its not good for key scratches.
I've also used PaintScratch before on other cars for paint chips, but never tried them for long scratches....Not sure how well it would work on long scratches (about 4" long)
Then I stumbled on this site for Fix It -- it looks like a late-night infomercial.
Has anybody tried Dr. Color Chip, PaintScratch, or Fix It on key scratches?

I can tell you right now that unless you're a magician, literally any kind of quick fix is going to look like poop.
I personally can fix bad rock chips on front ends, but even I wouldn't attempt to fix a long scratch. The panel(s) will need a repaint. Sorry.

Could have bounced off the car
Has anyone used the Dr. Color chip system before? The picts on the web site look awesome. I want to take care of a coupe rockchips on the hood and get a new (bigger) clear bra before winter.

heres mine on the driver's side rear door, the estimates start around $300, with the top of the line shop quoting me $1100 at the absolute most. The cheaper shops said they will just fix the scratch and paint the door, I know that's not going to cut it and will be noticeable. I'd rather spend a little more and be reassured that it will look perfect.
Most shops said about $400, the scratch will be sanded, filled and resprayed. To properly blend the paint, they have to blend the color and re-clear everything from the side turn signal to the gas door.
My deductible is $1000, so I'm going to go for $400 out of pocket.
I felt like **** for a few days when it happened last week. Some people are straight up *******s and you have to deal with it.
Best of luck with it.
