the major problem i was having was the car would go into limp mode alll the time because that bov either stays all the way open or all the way closed and the ecu gets confused when the bov flutters (opening all the way or closing all the way)

but hope it works out for you, keep the stock bov just incase
put the same one in my 8 and same prob...

It's not a tuning issue, it's not a product issue. It's because of the mass air sensor and venting to air issue.

(and how do you "tune" for a BOV anyways?)

lol i dont know how you do tune for bov,

so would going to the other version of MAF AFM right? is that better for blowing to atmosh?

If this one creates so many problems then which BOV is appropriate for higher boost levels?

I'm not sure why this is in the show and shine forum

Looks really good bud. Glad to see you are continuing to recirculate. How does it sound recirculating by the way?

You tune for a BOV by first realizing that the stock valve probably leaked and now the new one doesn't. That means the engine is getting more boost pressure and a greater volume of air than it's expecting.

I had zero problems with my HKS SSQV, and I had it fully vented, not recirculated. The chirpy sound just started to bother me after awhile...

You can't tune for a VTA BOV on the stock MAF. It's not a tuning issue, it's the issue of air going past the MAF and being "accounted for". Then the BOV releases that air however the MAF still thinks the air is there and puts enough fuel in the motor for that air that is supposed to be there. That causes a fat rich condition every gear shift and causes stalling of the car often when letting off the throttle in everyday driving. It's not fun, it's not good for the car and it definitely doesn't improve performance at boost levels that are used on the stock turbo.

A VTA bov is rice on a MAF equipped car, nothing else. It's been explained on this forum about 1000 times already. Search for "VTA BOV" and you will find everything you ever wanted to know about the issues that come with that. There's ways around it like a Speed/Density conversion on the Evo 8/9 or aftermarket ECU's that use a MAP sensor instead of the MAF. There's also a way to make a blow-through setup placing the MAF after the valve that's been done already even on the X.

The way it's done on this specific post, there's no way you can "tune it out". If anyone claims otherwise, he's pulling your leg.

It's not junk. Just doesn't work too well with the Evo.

Nice! I'm going to run one but I am just using universal and a flange VTA. Since my MAF will be after the BOV I have to go VTA.
