OEM lip problems

The factory lip on my evo x has been pretty problematic. The rubber protector on the underside of the lip hits the beginning of my driveway quite often and i constantly have to re-insert the plastic snaps into the lip. I called mitsu to see if this was totally necessary to have the plastic protector and they said definitely. Has anyone else taken it off or is it really a key "aerodynamic" component like the mitsu dealer said? Thanks!

I've seen EVOs without the rubber under the aero lip. I think this has been talked about in the past as a common issue with the aero kit though. You might want to search for it.

Took mine off, got tired of getting new plastic tabs and re-inserting them. Don't really see/feel a problem with having it off when it comes to the aerodynamics of the car.

Take it off like everyone else...but then again if its the plastic rubber hitting the driveway at least it's doing its job and protecting your aero lip from getting jacked up....if you can help it enter your driveway at an angle..
