Another darkside blaphemy intro!

Well I've been lurking for a while, but I traded my fully built 04 STi (gt30r, built motor, waaaay too much stuff to list) for a 08 RR X GSR with Xenon and sound package with 28k. The car is just awesome. Minus a little crunchy shifting sometime, but not bad at all. I've read that this is pretty common. The dealer also just did a service on it and they might have put some crappy gear oil in it? I know Subaru's were VERY finicky on what oil you used.

But Hello and CHEERS.

The old STi

The New X!!

You might want to change the transmission fluid for some Redline MTL. That'll make your car shift like butter.

Get a TWM Short Shifter + AMS Underhood Solid Bushings and you will immediately get rid of the 2nd gear and 3rd gear crunch.

You guys have any luck with Motul gear 300? I know my tranny in my STi sometimes had problems going into gear until I switched to Motul, after that its was perfect. I geuss these mitsu 5 speeds are finicky as well.

But I drove the car to work today and it was a great drive on Marsh creek (if any of you local guys know the road) and Marsh Creek is NOT smooth in the least bit. The stock suspension really doesn't need anything, the ride is amazing, stiff and tight but not bouncy at all. And its nice to have a car thats solid when it goes over a bump, my old Subaru sounded like every body panel was loose. I also really like how quick the steering is on the X as well. Im in looove

Whom ever did the mods to that Suby didnt know what he was doing. It looks more like a plain WRX than an STI. (yuk!)

People report great experience with 2 parts Redline MTL 1 part Redline MT90. I'm giving it a try this weekend, so we'll see how it goes.

How can you say that? I spent my money on performance NOT looks. Clean and functional is the name of my game. If you have a shopping cart spoiler you get unwanted attention. The only exterior mods I had were a wrx wing and a vlimited lip. But here is my motor mods:

-Built ej257 (100mm wisecos, acl bearings, cometic hg's, 11mm oil pump, greddy Kevlar timing belt, arp studs).
-ATP gt3071r
-Perrin fuel rails w/ 740cc injectors
-walbro 255
-aps 70 inlet
-maddad uel with custom (welded and fabricated by me) tial 44mm uppipe
-invidia catless dp and spt exhaust
-coolingmist cmgs water/meth
-aps tmic

Please post pics of you Evo so I can tell you how bad it looks just for principle, lol.

sr20steve - Welcome. I use to have a 04 Java Black STI. Never missed it. I was going through a quart of oil every 1k miles. only have 40k. Among other problems.
