Do you just unscrew the front like you were going to change the face plate and then pull out the assembly that way?

In a nut shell yes. The main problem is getting the board out without damaging it or bending pins.

There is no kit avail like it... it is a one of a kind design.... so i would highly recommend doing it they way you want it and stay commited to it.

There was a guy who used to do this for the GTO's. You could send him your gauge cluster and he would change the colors to match the color of your car and also had the color changing needles. Think he stopped doin it tho and he was the only one in the country who knew how to do it too..

I did this to my X as well but I used all white LED's to match my 2010 Gauge cluster. Just search my username for pics.
