Quad projector headlights in the making
Love your work dude.. seriously.
Especially those http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...I/DSC03243.jpg
May I ask if you still make them and if so, how much would it cost to get them done?

I have a few questions concerning the Red LED that you installed inside the projector.
First of all, from what I can see, you dremelled a hole at the opposite side where the red shield is. Is it not interfering (in the way) with the light coming out of the HID bulb? Is the LED bulb sticking out inside the projector?
Do you have pictures of the positioning of the hole from inside the projector?
Second question, is there a chance that the LED bulb melts from the heat coming out of the HID bulb? I believe the projector itself can become pretty warm.
Last question, which type of LED would you recommend and can you advise where I should be getting it?

Awesome work by the way, you are very creative

^^ this was the final retrofit of the LEDs. They are suspended above the projector hole using a metal wire coat hanger that was cut & bent to shape usbg trial & error. It screws into the back of the projector. The reason for mounting the LED this way was so the owner could unscrew the bracket and remove the the LED from the back of the HL incase it ever died. No need to reopen the HL.
It was a good idea in theory but quite tricky in practise. There's very little room to wriggle the LED out. To make things worse you're working blind coz the bracket curves I've the projector. I tested the removal and install of the LED which took a few goes but for someone who hasn't seen the internals of the HL and doesn't know what clearances he/she has then its difficult..
To answer some of your other qns:
* Hole location was dependant on some of the HL internal obstacles. Also depends what projector you use. EvoX-R or Mini H1 projectors don't require holes as theyre an "open" style projector.
* LED interference was not an issue coz it was fixed above the hole
* LED positioning was fine with any heat related issues
* I had to use the most compact LED I could find coz there very little room to work with. I ended up going with this style LED:
Short LEDs

The bracket is used so that anyone can still remove LED from the back of the HL incase it fails. You don't need to re-open it to get access to the LED.
If all you used was silicone to hold it in how would you change LEDs without re-opening the HL??

One more question, concerning the red shields this time. I've just created 4 shields, but as far as I know, the shields I made for my 2 bi-xenon FX-R projectors will be in the way when I turn my high beams on...
In the pictures you posted, which were for bi-xenon projectors, your shields are going almost all the way to the middle of the projector lens. Have you not lost the high beams by doing so?
Please explain!
Thanks

Haven't finished the project bro! Painting is the LAST step. Have to make sure everything fits / bolts up first..
Side note:
If anyone is interested, I can make a DIY thread to achieve the same or similar look as these HLs. The thread will contain:
* ALOT more detailed pix outlining crucial dremeling dimensions for everything. Even behind the scenes pix.
* instalation pix for everything
* create and send dremel templates. Takes most of the guess work out of trimming.
* recommendations on where to buy retrofitting parts.
* + any other information that I think may help
I guess it all depends on how strong the desire is to want to:
* Upgrade the OEM projector
* Achieve a "quad projector" look and lose the operation of the DRL.
