Shift knobs... in Florida

Now, I know there was a very lengthy and encompassing shift knob thread running at the time of writing.

However! my Evo GSR had to come with the interior package :-/ and last week, on day 3 of ownership, I literally blistered from the grab. I managed to shift by using the boot, but I need a different shifter. the TWM Phantom advertises that it greatly reduces heating up. I'd like to hear someone experience with the sihfter, OR anything else they have used that has held up to high temperature direct sunlight resting...

TWM what might make a great advertising piece for you guys would be to get one of those IR Temperature readers. let a car sit in the sun with your phantom knob, and one with the stock aluminum one from mitsu. and read surface temps of the metal. would be interesting...

Thanks guys! and to cover my ***, I searched but couldn't come up with a thread on temperature sensitive shift knobs. and I hit every page in the other shifter thread.

I vote for the Flossy knob.

Made of "grip tape" surface. It's not cold to the touch or anything, but it certainly won't burn you either.

I feel your pain. I used to have an ARC ti knob. It gets crazy hot being in the FL sun. There were days where I had to cool it down with a wet paper towel. xD

sun shades? they are cheaper than shift knobs, mine is all metal, i live in fort walton fl, its crazy hot here on some days but i have tint, so i crack my windows and put my sun shades up and the car never gets too hot to touch my knob.... without it is a completely different story

My knob gets insane hot too here in GA. I just keep my golf glove in the little cubby and put that on my TWM shifter if it is really hot.

I have the stock leather shift knob if you are interested in one of those.. looks brand new..

I'm in Cali and my TWM A6 Leopard heats up a bit and freezes up in the mornings. It's not insane, I got used to it. But you're in Florida and it's humid as hell, haha. The Flossy knob is a good option.

this is the reason why I removed my Blox 490 knob and put on the ugly Oem leather knob. Im thinking of the AMS derlin knob. Her in Chicago, it gets hot in the summer, and freezing cold in the winter. So a metal knob is a PITA if you dont have gloves handy

The golf glove is actually a really good idea.

I like the idea of a window shade, I really do. but I'm that guy who likes nothing to be sitting around in his car. back seat stays clean, floorboards are vacuumed, center console empty and closed if I'm not in it. that being said I have no where to put it that's out of sight. trunk is a pita lol.

at the same time, i want a spherical shifter instead of this Evo one. Plus when I throw it on my TWM short throw it will sit lower. combine that with 15% tint all around it should be much better.

tkromer... you just sold me on that shiftknob. as long as I can get it without any of the "flossy" branding, I'm on board with it.

Seems like you take care of your Evo. Im sure you got a spare microfiber towel you can keep in the car. Cover the shift knob with the MF towel on hot days.

I really try do. it may not be an investment in the money sense. but I grew up watching Rally in Europe, and I have wanted an Evo since I was 11 or 12 years old. Now I've earned it and it's an investment in my happiness.

Hat and MF cloth are both good. I think I'll get a set of gloves if the Flossy knob doesn't fix the issue.
