It is not painted. The shiny stuff you see in it is the plastic - it's not paint. The MR has a different black plastic piece that is more grey colored but the GSR is definitely not painted.

If you purchase the same replacement cover from the dealer, it'll come like that.

 

I have a 2008 and it's painted. It has a few chips here and there. Definitely painted. I was wondering if there was touch up paint as well.

 

I have a 2008 and its painted. I also have a few rock chips that exposed underneath the paint. I just replaced it with a carbon fiber overlay.
