^^ this thread was created for SSS HL owners wanting a hassle free upgrade where you just unbolt the old and bolt in the new...

If you're going to do a retro on a non-SSS HL then you might as well upgrade to FX-R projectors.
* they have a wider beam pattern &
* they're cheaper

Do it once, do it right....

doing the FX-R kit from trs into non SSS halogen housing.

My question is.... does this mean I would have two highbeams?
One from the bixenon and one from inner halogen?

Theoretically I am thinking I will have to let the halogen highbeam wiring harness just dangle unplugged while the bixenon will do its stuff no?

How would that work?

^^ you will have quad high beam setup.... IF you're prepared to wire it up that way...

Very simple process:

^^ when you buy an FX-R projector it should come with the corresponding "female" 9006 connector (with black & orange wires) that mates up with the high beam connector on the FX-R.

You will need to splice the new female 9006 wiring (black & orange) onto the high beam wiring on the cars harness (I think black & yellow).... Splice the black and black together...

Once you've done that there a 2 ways to "feed" the FX-R high beam wiring out of the HL to connect to your new female 9006 connector.

1. Drill a small hole underneath the HL (where the FX-R wiring begins) and feed the wires through. Make sure the hole is just big enough for the wires to go through. Too big and you will have dust build up inside your HL over time. Once the wires are fed through assemble the corresponding "male" 9006 connector with the small waterproof rubber grommets. You can only insert the Pin one way so it makes it idiot proof. Both wires are red so it doesn't matter which socket they go into... It's a Bi-Polar setup.. Now connect male & female together

2. You can run the FX-R wiring to the back of the high beam housing (inside the HL) then feed the wires through the black rubber grommet that attatched to the high beam waterproof cap. I'm not sure if the FX-R wires are long enough. If not, maybe feed the female wiring (black & orange) through the black rubber grommet on the high beam waterproof cap. Splice to the high beam wires on the car's harness and have the male & female connection inside the HL

ROFL. No I don't want to wire for quad hi-beams ^_^
I think everyone and their mothers in NewJersey would hate me if I ever flash

I'm looking into the antiflicker solution.
I know that jRox harness does the trick via bypass which is the route I will probably go, but I wonder how the below functions...

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...products_id=23

And what the heck does this mean:
"Note: that these will NOT work with vehicles that have DRL's (Daytime Running Lamps) unless you click the lights on to low-beam."

I'm trying to find out what JLC lightnings did to be able to retain the DRL!

High beam is only used when there's no cars in front of you... "flashing" someone should be less than half a second and it should be a good reason for doing so...
No point in buying a BiXenon projector like an FX-R and not wiring up the high beam function. That's a stupid projector choice... If you want a low beam ONLY projector then get a set of:
* TSX's
* S2K
* RX330

Dont be lazy!... Wire up the FX-Rs or use the right projector for the right application

As for the harness, just go with JRox unit if it works...

LOL I ment that I will be utilizing the high-beam function using the FX-R projector and probably just leaving the other reflector sitting there
