Front License Plate

What are people doing to mount their front license plates? I've seen a couple of different things, but am unsure of what to do. I don't want to drill holes into my car unless necessary, but I'm on number 4 of tickets for not having a front plate, and should probably get a permanent solution. Currently I have the plate zip-tied to my grill, but was told, once winters over thats probably the worst place to put it because of the intercooler. Not sure what to do

Leave it zip tied, unless you want to do the DIY and put it into the strip in the middle of the grill

I've been driving with a zip tied on the grill and havn't experienced any problems. I rather lose .00001 hp, then lose $220 everytime for a stupid plate ticket. (can thank NY for excessive surchages and fees) the actual ticket is $50

Everything i see for the X you need to drill holes. The 8/9 at least mounts into pre existing spots not drilled into the bumper.
Maybe look into a flip up plate so u can mount it on the bottom part of a bumper

Does anyone have experience about the flip up motorized plates? how well do they hold up and what are the chances of the contraption getting broken...Obviously the plan would be to drive with no place and then if you were getting pulled over hit the button and make the plate come up...but if its not reliable it would be worthless...I should be getting my evo in June and was wondering about these anyways..

like this...

but I wonder if there is anyway to mount it something like this...

Had to have my front bumper raplaced and told them to NOT drill holes in it for the plate. Honestly, I've lived in 3 states in the past 20 years and never put a front license plate on. Haven't been stoppped yet, knock on wood. Front plates look like crap anayways. :-P

I have a bracket like the motorized one (but mine isn't motorized) I just have it mounted on the drivers side so when its up it sits right below the foglight.

Thank goodness my Varis bumper came with those screws, just waiting on the bracket. I haven't been pulled over since I went plate-less/got the Varis put on.

I had one of those motorized Plate mounts and only last about one year or so, in NJ its a must have and $54 ticket. I just dont worry about the front anymore and bought one to try and mount on the rear of the car. It always harder to do stupid stuff with personalized plates, just cool to hide the back plate

I ended up buying a bracket from this site http://skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.shtml
If you pop over to my flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/lraynes you will see some close-ups of it on my car.

You do drill two small holes, but they are underneath. Its held up well, its what I ended up with after getting pulled over for no front plate within 2 months of buying the car. Its a simple design that even after removing it, no one would notice unless they were on the ground looking up.
