first ding

After eight months of ownership I got my first ding. Self inflicted, hit my son's car backing up out of the driveway. Not to bad, mostly paint. I'm planning on taking it to the local bodyshop for an estimate. How much would you think it will cost? I have a $500 deductable, and if it's in that range I'll take care it myself.

Dang that sucks. Yea I would think it would be around the cost of your deductible. Just take it to a nice collision repair place and it will be good as new.

At least it's not too bad..

i just got my first ding also...at home too for that matter.
my car and wifes car was in garage, wife opens door to her car to get something from back seat and BAM! hits right between my passenger rear door and rear quarter panel. luckily it hit right on the edge of the door jam, so a little dr color chip paint and it's all good. no actual metal dent.

still....i tell her what's the use of me parking in the farthest parking spot, looking for the right spot/cars to park next to when i get home and she's the one that ends up dinging up the car.

on another note, looks like you've got the same car/color as i do! surprising as i have yet to see another WW X MR. And i work in the NOVA area.

Damn, I would probably have a heart attack if it happened to me. Because it's over multiple panels, the labor might get a little expensive for such small marks. Did that wheel rash come from the same incident? When I saw the title I was expecting like a ding from someone opening a door into you car. I recently got a small door ding and been damning that person ever since. Good luck getting it fixed, and hope you find a place that does good work.

Two panels, thats way over $500 if you take it to a good shop. Edit - Didnt notice the wheel damage. Thats definitely expensive if you have the wheel replaced.

I was recently quoted $750 for a new rear bumper + paint and installation at a reputable body shop so yours should be a lot cheaper.

On the other note, would your insurance go up if you report it?
