I'm going to call the dealership about this. But I've noticed on both sides of my car, I have this stuff peeling off my side skirts. The stuff looks just like the magnetic tape from cassette/vhs tapes.

Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't see any mention of it when I searched the forums.

 

havent scraped on the ground? drove under bushes? thats weird

 

Yeah from the pic it looks scraped... But I can't really tell.

 

Definitely looks scraped. That or you drove over something that pushed the skirt upwards, bending it enough to crack all of the paint, but not enough to show a dent in the plastic.

Yea, I came to the realization that it was when I got stuck in some mud after Hurricane Irene. The peeling is pretty minor, but threw me off.
