help: switching trunks

How difficult is it to switch a GSR for a MR trunk?

Do I need to take the job to a shop? How much should it cost me for labor?

Thanks.

It's a very easy job. Self explanatory really. If you do take it to to a shop they should only charge you for an hours worth of work. When it really it takes half that

Once you get everything taken off the original trunk you will see how easy it is.

Depends on how many things you are swapping in between the two (taillights, lock switch, stop lamp, etc.) but no matter what it is pretty easy.

If you are swapping everything, it it easy to remove the lamps with a few bolts then just unplug the wiring harness from everything and remove all the clips and feed it back through the trunk to the body. Remove the dampers if necessary.

Remove the trunk lid with 4 bolts on the hinges. Be sure to have some help or hold it well when taking all of them out. Don't let it fall onto your car and hit it.
Do the reverse to put the new one on. The most difficult part is getting the alignment just right with the new one. Leave the bolts loose and adjust it just right and tighten everything up when it looks good.

Then just feed the harness back through, clip everything on, connect the lamps and lock switch and you're good to go.

Its not difficult to do. Don't pay someone. If you have a wrench and a screwdriver you can do it yourself, might take an hour or so.
