JDM Ralliart lip installation question

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any installation experience with the genuine Ralliart lip for the Evo X?

I ask because the JDP is a copy of it, and it requires drilling holes into the bottom of the bumper for installation. I'm wondering if the JDM Ralliart version utilizes the mount points for the under try or if it also requires drilling holes?

Yup. The authentic JDM version requires drilling holes too. Of note is that the JDP lip's holes don't line up the same as the JDM lip, mainly because JDP's lip is a molded copy of the authentic one. The JDP lip is also heavier due to thicker fiberglass, and if you look at the install instructions, it instruct you to take out the bumper and bend it to the lip. That's because the lip's fitment is only about 85%; the bumper is to accommodate the rest, while the JDM version is a clean fit, without requiring the bumper to be taken out to install.

Thank you so much for that info EndlessRed. I actually have installed the jdp before, twice actually. And I think 85% fitment is an accurate description. It being heavier is another point I hadn't considered.

I totally toasted my jdp after a few canyon carves. This was no fault of manufacturing. I was lowered, came into a 120 left hander and there was a dip just after the apex, it scraped the hell out of it. I ended up giving it to jdznate after that. I only bring this up because I wonder if I want to put up $1k for a lip that may get damaged ;p

It's actually not mine, it's a member from Ireland. UK Ralliart lip. You can still get them off of japanparts and rhdjapan.com, though they aren't cheap

I realize those aren't the same. Looks like version 2 they changed it in Japan.

jdp is probably up your alley then . That's probably what I'll go after as well since you still have to drill holes into both bumpers. I'm still considering an aero lip again though. That pesky rubber likes to rip off though.

I would hate to install a lip just to have it tear off and possibly crack my bumper :|

A lip would nicely finish off the aggressive front end of our cars though

Looks good. Is this a replica of the ralliart lip? It looks like the jdp's lip sticks out a little more in the corners?

Yah jdp calls it a ralliart style lip so assuming they meant to copy. Youre right about the corners.
