20x10 on Evo X?

Nice rite up. But wouldn't high performance tires come with a stiffer sidewall? Also, higher tire pressure would decrease the amount of flattening the tire would experience in the corners. Also, this was allow crisp throtte response with a constant contact patch. I think 19's are pushing it on the evos. I would stick with 18" TE37's with some high performance tires. You will get emence respect because you will be running on some of the nicest rims you can buy, and depending on the tires you run, be able to run increasingly fast through a track.

not a X but... bigger the better =-) still cut 1.7's =-)
Just dont make the same mistake i did.... Keep your stock wheels for race days.. not much traction with skinny tire.
Cheers!

You know it's funny how everyone automatically assumes that if you put 20's on your car you're trying to be "gangsta". He has every right to put whatever the hell he wants to on his ride. I have 20's on my evo so does that make every other evo owner look bad? I really don't care cause that's what I wanted. If everyone based their decisions off of other peoples opinions then then there wouldn't be any point.
I just was generalizing when I made the "gangsta" comment. The urban community is by far known for the big wheels game, but what about mini truckers, resto-hodrods, old school trucks, and suvs. These are all embraced by different communities which also have their share of 20"+ wheels. So instead of everyone telling him how stupid it is to put 20s on an evo, they should let him modify his car car how he wants. This site is suppose to educate and support fellow evo owners not attack them.
Since I'm the only one who commented I'm assuming your talking to me. If you re-read what I typed it was far from an attack.
I simply said 20"s don't belong on an Evo (IMO). I never said "Take them off you idiot!!"

It seems like people take it serious when someone decides to do something unique and different for their car to make it stand out... everyone always talks about performance loss... I dont think he is worried about the loss of performance for the gain on uniqueness... I say do it and do it right... you have no worries... Not everyone is into the race look... not everyone is into JDM style race cars... just let him do it with minimal critical remarks on how its stupid... there is no need to gang up on the guy to tell him how stupid his idea is... let him do it first... I mean all cars would be exactly the same if it wasnt for someone to try something new... how many evo x's are on dubs right now...
And like someone said earlier if you stay away from chrome and get some nice respectable 20's with a great design you will be surprised how nice the car may look...
I say do it.... and keep us posted...

it is completely up to you what you put on your car. But IMO if you were planning on putting 20's on a car that is made to be a performance car you should want to put the wides not the biggest wheels on your car not the biggest. I could put
19's on my civic I don't because it rides like **** on the 17's i did put on it. (i know it isn't the same but it kind of is.).
no offense but you could just buy a new Chevy Malibu and put 20's or 22's and nobody would care.

Rim Size index:
17 inch - Allows a high profile tire, allowing excellent traction and rarely a loss of grip. Also, you can run Yokohama rubber and some other compounds (hoosier).
18 inch - Same as 17's but rubber is pricier and your car's wheel wells get filled out better. Also, you can fit larger brake rotors and bigger calipers.
19 inch - Great for show, but you just lost any support you would want from yokohama or any other high performance tire manufacture (except Bridgestone and BFG which isn't that good anyways, except Bridgestone). Also, you have a great amount of grip lost because you cannot fill out the wheel wells with the tires.
20+ inch - FAIL
Go shoot yourself in the ****ing head OP.
