staggered fitment on an EVO?

Can someone answer my question?

Is staggered fitment ok on our Evo's? I assumed that all wheel drive cars cant do staggered? Ive seen people do it

IS there a downside going staggered ?

ok well since this is my first all wheel drive car lets do some critical thinking you and me. well when I had a rear wheel drive car(RX8) I put wider wheels in the rear for more traction. ok that makes sense to me since the power is sent to the rear and i want a larger contact patch. so since the evo has all wheel drive it will seem to me that if you stagger the wheels you will be lowering the cars ability to perform. since we do have an all wheel drive set up the ALL the wheels get power so I would think that all the wheels need the same contact patch. But what the hell do i know im just taking a wild guess. If your into looks more then performance then go for it im guessing. hope that helped -------Captin X and the Xsticals

The Cyber Evo ran, or still does run 18x10.5 fronts, and 9.5 rears. Same size tires all around aswell. You can do it, but the same size tires need to be run all around.

only the rolling diameter has to be the same on an AWD. the japanese treat AWD similar to FWD, and usually front bias the contact patch size - for better turn in.

only down side of this I see is it will get expensive on rotating tires cause your gonna have to have the unmounted and remounted and my guess is just for show ... I would just run widest rim front and back same offest so I could rotate with ease oh and do it myself.

Heres my set up that I was thinking..

20x8.5 +25offset
20x9.5 +15 offset or +25 offset
Tires: not sure yet...(what do you guys think?)

or I can go 20x8.5 +25 offset all around with a 255-30-20

or

19x8.5 +20 offset
19x9.5 +20 offset

Tires: 245-35-19

so you want a rear bias?
thats not JDM, thats a U.S. thing. we do that to compensate for stiff rear sway bars, to keep the rear end in check -as we run more oversteer setup, while the JDM guys run more of an understeer setup.

If i were you, i wouldn't bother staggering them. there's no point.

ahh he said 20's i am done!!!! staggered fit for looks is dumb. get a 240 sx, 350z, mustang or camaro if you want to run staggered fitment.

you can also run staggered offset fitment

higher offset in front to clear caliper and lower offset in the rear to get more LIP

That is what I would do, if I ever thought of doing "staggered"

I wouldn't run the staggered fitment as theres no real benefit. Plus you aren't going to be able to properly rotate your tires. If you do run the same size tireall around and a staggered fitment the rears are going to have the stretched look. Just my .02's
