Quick Help Please!! Wheel Spacers

I just went from +22 CE to +22 TE, both 19x10.5.. My TE37 doesn't clear the calipers like th CEs do, so the tire shop had some old 3mm spacers laying, it seems to be doing the job just fine with clearance, but barely clears though. Is it safe to run these with no worries at 3mm?? I'm actually thinking about going 5mm all around or at least in the front. I know i should get hub centric spacers, but is there anything else i should know or be aware of, and also, where can i get some GREAT quality spacers?

I would really like to run 5mm all around, rather than having just the front for appearance purpose, although i have heard that awd vehicles handles better with wide front track..

Pleas point me in the right direction and what brand or make of spacers..

Thanks guys!!!!

Bueller?

LOL, looks like thicker brake pads would cause you to touch the wheels. I hope those aren't worn out brake pads with 3mm left on them.

You can try some 5mm spacers up front to clear the brakes better, then use the 3mm in the back (or nothing) since it really won't be needed. The thing is with spacers is that everything has to be perfectly mounted or you will get some vibration in the wheel. 5mm is the thickest spacers you can use with the stock studs, and even then the vendors usually supply new studs to be on the safe side. If you torque them down on new wheels you will have to re-torque a few times to get them do stay on there.

You are also going to be lowering your effective offset from 22mm down to 17mm which means you will likely have to do some fender work (roll the fenders to make sure the inside lip doesn't cut into the tires). Depending on what tires you have mounted this could be minimal or quite a task.

I ended up with Ichiba 5mm spacers for the fronts, although for now I'm running without them with a somewhat less aggressive look. Mainly I didn't feel they were worth the hassle and couldn't completely get all the vibration they were giving me out of the steering wheel.

This would be true if the EVO x had floating calipers. Since the EVO x calipers are fixed and do not move with pad wear and or pad changes, you are going to be just fine with the 3 mm clearance. I was running less than a fingernail clearance between my wheel and caliper on my last setup and it was totally fine.

on another note, when you go to 5mm spacers you will have less threads in contact on the lug nuts. I would feel more confident with 3mm spacers than 5mm spacers due to the fact that I would have more threads in contact on the lugs.

It looks good Vee and you are goign to be perfectly fine with just the 3mm spacers. It looks like you might even be able to get away with 1 or 2mm spacers also.

Thanks for the CEs by the way

^^^get the CEs on and post pics soon!!! it'll look killer on PB, im sure you'll have them setup flawlessly with no issues. Yeah, i'm probably gonna look for some good aluminum 3mm spacers then, drove the car to the game today and i seriously need to take care of that bolt, i think imma just run without them and cut the edges smooth. Thanks again for trade, youll be happy with the CEs, theyre way more concavethan the TE
