The RE960 AS were a great touring tire. Reasonably grippy, quiet, good in the rain, etc etc... that said I will probably never buy them again. I'll be sticking with 1 extreme performance summer setup and one winter tire setup.

I just got a set of Nitto NT555 tires on my X, and so far I'm enjoying them. Got a little over a hundred miles on them so far, and I like them They have a 300 tire wear rating which is near double the stock advans. Should see 30k miles out of them, which is perfect. They are also a lot quieter than the stock tires, and have a slightly softer ride.

Sumitomo HTRZ III.

I've been using these for the past 4 mos. Great in rain, much, much quieter than stockers. Haven't tracked them so can't say anything about ultimate grip but for DD use they have been fine. No more tramlining and a very good on center feel with a quick initial response. We'll see about treadwear.

I was a little wary because of the very low price and the crappy reviews of the Sumi HTRZ II's but this linked review and TireRack's personal recommendation,
persuaded me to try them out.

+1 on the NT555. One could also consider the Nitto INVO as well. Although my personal preference is primarily a tire that is around a 200 tire wear rating, I have used the NT555's on AWD Audi's and has performed overall well; with proper alignment, the tire has shown the ability to last longer than the Yoko's.

I used a set of Falken FK-452s on my old STI and they were good. I even autocrossed with them once and they did okay.
