Hankook v12s

Time has come for me to change the tires and I don't know much about tires. I searched here quite a bit and see a lot of people with Nittos, Dunlop Z1s and Hankook's, both the RS-3 and the V12s.

The price of the V12s appeal to me quite a bit and the reviews seem fairly positive. I dont want a "cheap" tire, but I also don't need the max performing tire as I don't track or autoX the car.

So, for a daily driver with occassional "spirited" driving, will the V12s be fine?

I haven't used the V12s personally, but I've read a lot of guys use them, even for occasional track days. Seem to get some really good feedback.

I have them. Seem to grip pretty good. Overall good tires.

I would tell you to get a set of V12's. I use them for a DD tire. Good in rain, good dry traction, predicatable let off. They are very decent for the money. If I had to buy a street tire again, I would probably get them again.

How stiff are the sidewalls when compared to the OE tires?

They'll be more than fine. You'll never even come close to reaching their limits on the street.

I put V12's on my MS3 and wasn't impressed. They handled fine and were quieter, but the soft sidewall made initial turn in feel very imprecise.

Interesting. I can pitch the car within a 1/4" of a cone on those tires.

Yah I'm second guessing getting the v12s.

I just got back from an HPDE at P.I.R. today, my stocks are toast. I was looking at these, but I think I may just get the star specs now (along with some Advan RS wheels). I want something as good or better at the track than the stockers on the X.

Actually, at the track today I decided I was going to get racing tires / wheels, and use those specifically for the track, then use my BBS wheels with some other tires, might as well try the v12s for my street tires.

I just ordered a set from dicount tire 450 for 4 shipped with a $60 mail in rebate how could i say no. I will post reviews but from my understanding they're pretty sweet tires for the money. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...12_evo_page_10

It's hard to imagine doing better in a street tire. These thing have grip for days, they're predictable, quiet, and reasonably priced. For a pure auto-x application, for example, I'd suggest something else. Even then, in the rain I'd take the V12s.
