I currently run Ad08r's and they are great on the track. Stick like crazy. I was thinking of saving them for winter and throwing on some cheaper less grippy tires to get me more comfortable with sliding.

I see tire rack has Hankook Ventus v12 k110 for like 600 shipped. Would those give me what I'm looking for?

Of course I can get the AD08's sliding but at much higher speeds where reaction times have to be faster.

Just go faster, the tires will slide fine. Street tires like the 08s have a pretty slow and even slip curve, compared to a racing tire. Use it - burn them up.

Not only that (as in: the above), but learning to slide and "catch" a car on streets doesn't transfer that well to Rs or slicks. And it's not only (or even mostly) the grip of the tread; it's the sidewalls.

it sure doesn't...the slip curve on a full slick is MUCH steeper. Grip, Grip, Grip, SLIDE......GRIP takes some getting used to.
